It depends. Sometimes I get very angry - like when I watched the Keira Knightley version of Pride & Prejudice, because it just wasn't Jane Austen at all! I missed Darcy's "In vain I have struggled, it will not do. You must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and love you!" and just wanted to hide for a week when I heard movie!Darcy's declaration of love. I mean, seriously? I just hate that movie and I think Jane Austen would die all over again if she saw it. BBC version = love. Movie version = hatehatehate.
On the other hand, I don't really mind changes cause I know they're inevitable. I actually prefer the LOTR movies to the books cause they have the "spirit" of the books without being too long and boring. And while I feel the need to analyse the Harry Potter movies every time a new one comes out, and compare them to the books, I don't really mind the changes all that much.
Most of the time, I don't really care all that much if they change the story a bit in the movie, but what I can't stand is when they butcher a character and make them do things that the original character would SO not do.
