I'M BACK!!!

Nov. 4th, 2013 04:54 pm

Did anyone even notice my slightly-longer-than-usual absence? ;) Anyway... yeah. I'm back from my completely random, out of the blue and unplanned break from Livejournal, and believe it or not, now I'm actually motivated to get back into it. I really hope it last'll last because I've actually missed LJ and that hasn't happened for a loooong while.

On the few rare occasions I did have a look at my flist over the past month(s), I ended up seeing fic/kink discussions & meta as well as long personal post with lots of comments, and I realised how much I miss this! And what it used to be like. And I want that back. So. Yeah. I guess now I just have to actually find something to write about. Well - no, I actually do have several posts planned, mostly about real life stuff but possibly also a fandom post or two. So. I'll write and post those at some point in the nearish future. That sounds so vague, though. I should give myself a deadline. This week. There.

But yeah, basically I'm back, so hi, hello, how are you, what's new? :)

This is SO fucking wrong :( And it gets worse every time something like that is posted... I doubt, there will be much downloads anymore after this... and that literally "blocks" non-us citizens for watching tv-shows :(

*IMPORTANT UPDATE: PLEASE READ*

All U.S. Internet Providers will be policing downloads by July 12, 2012

All U.S. Internet Providers will be policing downloads by July 12, 2012
Seriously. WHAT THE FLYING FUCK WORLD.

"File-sharers, beware: By July 12, major US Internet service providers (ISPs) will voluntarily begin serving as copyright police for the entertainment industry, according to Cary Sherman, chief executive of the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The so-called “six-strikes” plan is said to be one of the most effective anti-piracy efforts ever established in the US."

The article goes on to give details. After six notices, internet providers will decide to throttle a person's internet speed, or cut it off altogether. I don't know if they will crack down on torrents only, or if it is up to the internet provider. I get the sense it is up to the internet provider. So some people could get away with downloading non torrents, while others might get their internet service cut off. I urge you to click it and read, as we all know people who download.

No more downloading eps of your favorite shows for vidding, gifs, or fanfiction art. No more downloading screencaps possibly. I'm so sorry my friends. I don't even know if BT Guard will work to protect you, but I would google it if I were you. It is a professional service that supposedly can protect you from the invasive eyes of your internet provider.

Just, my friends, please make each other aware. Please be aware of the date JULY 12TH. Mark your calendar and double check with your internet provider by then. If you start receiving notices of downloaded activity, this is why. And your internet service could be throttled or cut off.

Because I sort of need a break and to not feel guilty when I don't respond to posts... and because I'll have to study and write and most of all RP, and just wanna take a break for a while :)

If something major happens (like my exam results this week *bites nails*), I'll probably still end up updating, and I'll definitely be on Twitter and stuff, but... yeah. Just wanna take a break from posting and reading LJ.

So... see ya!
thiliaarchive: (Default)
MY PICS ARE ALL BACK! :D I guess it was just a temporary problem then. See? I knew it would all work perfectly. LOL!

So no worries about the whole thing; nothing will happen to your pictures. :)

Ugh...

So, remember my super-positive post about the new Scrapbook?

Yeah... rethinking my opinion right now cause pretty much all the image links on [livejournal.com profile] thiliart are broken. -_________-

Maybe it's because they're in the process of transferring everything but... ugh, please don't tell me I'll have to reupload everything and switch the links... D:

*waits and hopes it's a temporary glitch or something*
thiliaarchive: (Default)
...is not a bad thing. For once. LJ fucks up a lot with their updates, I know, but this time there is not really any reason to panic.

For those of you who haven't heard; the old LJ Scrapbook is being replaced by a new LJ Scrapbook and there's a lot of wrong information going around because of an incorrect Russian-to-English translation of the post on the new scrapbook beta community. Or something.

Anyway, I let them transfer my pictures yesterday and it's really not a problem. So... facts:

+ It's been said that the image space has gone from 10GB to 2GB and that all +2GB pics are going to be lost during the transfer, which isn't true. It's always been 2GB and you still have the option of upgrading to 10GB (as far as I can see). Besides, 2GB is a lot, and I can't imagine that many people are actually over that limit. (I have A LOT of art uploaded and I've been using LJ and Scrapbook since 2006, and I'm only slightly over 350MB, so...)
+ The image links in your entries are not going to be broken after the transfer.
+ Yes, the security level of your pics might change during the transfer. As far as I know, all my pictures were public before the transfer; after it, they were private (so that only I could see them). They were still showing up for everyone in the entries but only I could see them in the galleries. But it's really easy to change the security level, so again - not really a problem.
+ The new Scrapbook doesn't look much different than the old one and is way easier to use. If you wanna see what it looks like - look at mine here :)

Of course I get that some people are worried about losing pics - so it's always safer to back them up before doing the transfer. But if everything works out, you shouldn't lose anything, really.

They're going to transfer everyone's pics in the next few weeks, as far as I know, but if you want to do the switch now before everyone else, you can comment with a + here in this post. :)

And... that's it, really!

EDIT: The only thing I've noticed is that a header I have in my scrapbook and that I'm using on other journals - insanejournal/dreamwidth/scribbld/whatever - is not showing up because only the URLs in actual livejournal entries are being redirected. But it's not like that's a huge deal cause you only have to replace a couple of links in the CSS :)

ACTA in a Nutshell –

What is ACTA?  ACTA is the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement. A new intellectual property enforcement treaty being negotiated by the United States, the European Community, Switzerland, and Japan, with Australia, the Republic of Korea, New Zealand, Mexico, Jordan, Morocco, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, and Canada recently announcing that they will join in as well.

Why should you care about ACTA? Initial reports indicate that the treaty will have a very broad scope and will involve new tools targeting “Internet distribution and information technology.”

What is the goal of ACTA? Reportedly the goal is to create new legal standards of intellectual property enforcement, as well as increased international cooperation, an example of which would be an increase in information sharing between signatory countries’ law enforcement agencies.

Essential ACTA Resources

  • Read more about ACTA here: ACTA Fact Sheet
  • Read the authentic version of the ACTA text as of 15 April 2011, as finalized by participating countries here: ACTA Finalized Text
  • Follow the history of the treaty’s formation here: ACTA history
  • Read letters from U.S. Senator Ron Wyden wherein he challenges the constitutionality of ACTA: Letter 1 | Letter 2 | Read the Administration’s Response to Wyden’s First Letter here: Response
  • Watch a short informative video on ACTA: ACTA Video
  • Watch a lulzy video on ACTA: Lulzy Video

Say NO to ACTA. It is essential to spread awareness and get the word out on ACTA.

Edit And if you do not feel like taking a total break and perhaps want just a trial separation or couple's counseling, then perhaps consider Black March Lite 2.0 = spend, but spend money on those content creators and independent retailers who came out against SOPA/PIPA.  And tell them why you're buying their products in March.  There many of them.

Got this from [livejournal.com profile] tabitha666. It would be cool if everyone did this, though how I'm supposed to not buy and download ANY of those things is beyond me. Still, I might give it a try. :D

For those of you who dislike the new uncustomised comment pages on LJ, and mostly the fact that the subject line is gone... THIS might be useful :)

Also, I wish there was a way to switch between two layouts, here on LJ. A very simple one without big fonts and icons, that doesn't display pictures on my flist while I'm at school, and then my normal one for when I'm at home.

Is that too much to ask for? 0:)

20 minutes, then I can go hooooome. Move faster, time.
thiliaarchive: (anis - shrug)
Just woke up to multiple LJ fail posts, and was like O_o I read LJ's news post last night but I didn't really think anything was wrong with it... well, anyway. The thing that annoyed me the most were the stupid Facebook and Twitter icons below the comment boxes, mostly because I'm used to pressing that |<-- -->| button on my keyboard whenever I'm ready to post, and now it selects the stupid Facebook thingy rather than jump to the 'Post comment' button.

Anyway, I don't really get why everyone's panicking about it so much. I mean, people could basically always repost everyone's stuff anywhere they like; now it's just easier *shrugs*

I don't care if anyone reposts anything of mine, unless it's the really personal posts or comments, so... please just don't do that, all right? Thanks.

Anyway! I found a solution to remove the annoying Twitter and Facebook icon below the comment boxes and make them go from looking like this:

to

I thought I'd share, so if you're looking for a solution, go here: LINKY

Voila. :)

The thing that really annoys me is that the slashes (/) don't work in the tags anymore. I guess we'll have to change them from Harry/Draco to Harry+Draco. Which is a shitload of work in my case, considering I've written and drawn so many different pairings. D: AARGH!!!
thiliaarchive: (bushido - shrug)
And I don't know if I like it. LOL!

Windows 7 is weird and I think I'll need some time to get used to it. And the screen resolution is weird cause everything is tiny and makes me need to squint.

Hmm...

Oh well, I'll get used to it. I hope!

But it's pink! :D I'll post a picture later ♥
thiliaarchive: (stock; meh)
Any computer experts on my flist?

I've tried everything I could think of but I just can't fix it!!

screencap under the cut )

Grrrrrrrrrr...

I can't change those settings because there's nothing wrong with them!

UGH.

Is it just me or has LJ been reeeeally fucking slow lately?

Ugh. Comment posting, picture loading, everything is just so slooooooooooooooooooooooooow!

Also, I'm cleaning up my bookmarks, so if I suddenly comment on one of your entries that is weeks/months old, don't be surprised :P

Umm...

Okay, WTF? Every time I click any LJ-cut or link to an LJ entry, I get a Trojan Horse warning from my anti-virus program O_o

Is anyone else having that problem?

EDIT: Okay, now it's stopped. Huh.

Oh noes!

Dear flist,

I was just going to send you all snowflakes but apparently, LJ decided that pwetty snowflakes should only be a temporary... thing. Ugh!

...On second thought, they might have been gone for a while because my stupid LJ notifications are like, a few hours/days late *glares*

Anyone else have that problem?!

Uh... what I was going to say: Even though they might not actually show up on your profile, I'm sending you snowflakes. Mentally. Or something.

*smooch*

Hurray!
