I usually buy the e-version and if I really liked it, think I might read it again and it has a pretty cover, I'll buy the physical copy (preferably hardcover) as well. Or, well... I haven't actually done that yet but there are several books/series that I'm planning on buying at some point in the future.
What I like about Kindles though is that you don't have to wait days for the book to be delivered and you can start reading right away, and with AO3's handy download function, you can read fics on it as well.
As for the actual reading experience... each option has its advantages.
