...and I haven't seen a single post about it on my flist! How??

Text under the cut in case you haven't read it on Pottermore or Tumblr yet... It's an article by Rita Skeeter.

LET'S TALK ABOUT IT!!!

- Harry with silver streaks - yes please. Plus another scar? Good to know for future drawings! (I'm still gonna keep changing his glasses to something sexier though~)
- Rita's hints at a marriage crisis cause Ginny's not around... what is going on there? ;)) (I don't mind Harry/Ginny, but obviously prefer shipping Harry with just about anyone else...)
- TEDDY!!! :') James! Albus! My babies. <333
- Harry "keeping a tighter reign on this wild boy" - yes, please! ;)
- The comment on Charlie still not being married :))
- Harry and Viktor apparently being pretty good friends!
- And... yeah. What about Draco and Scorpius? She could've squeezed them in somehow, hmph.

Yup yup. I liked it. I suppose some people are going to ignore it since they disregard the whole existence of the epilogue in the first place but... it's nice to have something again. Even if it's just a dumb Rita Skeeter article.

In other news, I'm at work and bored. I also want a new LJ layout but I can't find one I like. I deleted my LJ profile weeks ago and still haven't rewritten it... I think some LJ maintenance is in order (also friending/refriending/unfriending, probably, maybe, I don't know). I'm just so laaazzyyy.

I'm guessing this article was probably fun for JKR to write, but I'm disappointed by it. The only glimpse we get of the HP world years later is Skeeter's completely manipulative and sensationalized negativity? *sigh*

Well, it may just be the beginning of a series of snippets of their future... probably silly to hope she'll write more (and I feel kind of conflicted about her writing more because on the one hand YES PLEASE, but on the other hand, I don't want her to ruin my view of the next gen characters, haha), but you never know. She probably misses writing about them, so... a girl can hope ;) And sure, a more positive look at their future would've been even better, but I'm still excited about it cause at least it's something. Even through her negative comments, you get to know what they're up to and since you know what the characters are really like, you can kind of... I don't know. Look past the negativity and figure out what's probably really going on.

The only thing I'm surprised about is that the Wizarding World still lets Rita write that kind of crap after all those years! :p

Haha, I'm surprised too! I definitely do in general like getting more from JKR, but I think fanfiction has spoiled/skewed me greatly. ;-)

LOL true, me too. She could've done way more with this, definitely - any good fic writer could've done more with this, but... oh well. :))

It's not too much for Harry to be happy and not plagued with fame, right? And to actually work through the issues he undoubtedly has after all the neglect and death and destiny in his childhood? Right? RIGHT?

Exactly. I think that was most people's problem with the epilogue?? The whole "All Was Well" thing. But of course that was 19 years later, so he's had some time to... get over the trauma he undoubtedly had after the war. And this is... well, if Viktor is 34 here and was at least 17 at the time of the Triwizard Tournament, during which Harry was... 14, which would make Harry... 31ish here. So I guess he has had some time to get over the worst of it. And she makes it sound like they're still being followed around by fans, which... I don't know, but after 13 years it's got to have calmed down a little at least. :p

True, and maybe an author doesn't need to take this into consideration, but 19 years for Harry was a page-turn for us readers. WE didn't get that time to work things out, and it's tough for any reader and especially one like me who was with HP from the first book's publication till the last over my formative years.

Date: 2014-07-09 06:17 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] thilia.livejournal.com
Yeah, exactly, I think that probably kind of overwhelmed most readers, cause it went from "the war is over and everyone died" to "yay, happy ending, no one has issues!" Personally I loved the epilogue because it gave us the next gen characters, some of whom turned out to be my favourite characters ever, and I cried more during the epilogue than any other part of the books (but that had probably more to do with the whole "fuck, it's really over" thing than anything else). LOL

But yeah... it may not have been the best ending she could've chosen. And the whole pairing everyone up, having everyone marry their high school boyfriend/girlfriend is kind of... yeah. Maybe she should've left that up to the readers' imagination and then posted the epilogue online at some point.

But same - I didn't start reading it quite the moment the first book came out, but when the three first were out, and... yeah, definitely. :3

I'm with you on the "it's really over" crying. My 6th grade teacher read to us from the first HP book and I was hooked. Every time a new book came out, I would be terrified of going to the midnight releases for fear of spoilers, but without fail I would wake up every morning with the new book on my desk because my dad went out and got it for me. And then I'd spend the entire day reading it. Ungh, just thinking about how much that meant to me makes me tear up!

Awww. My dad bought me the three first books in German and I didn't want to read them because I didn't like the covers (LOL), but then I did end up reading them and... yeah. Ugh, I miss waiting for another book to come out. :(( I don't think I've ever been or will ever be this attached to another series.

Haha. I have the first HP book in German, Spanish, Latin, and Ancient Greek so I can (one day) improve my language skills. I love seeing all the different covers.

I can think of worse things to have a long-term intense attachment to than a book series. I love that HP has brought so many people together and that 7 years later the fandom is still going strong.

Ooh, cool! I have 1-5 (or 6) in German, and the last few in English - but then I also bought a pretty edition of all the books in English a few years ago. Good investment since I'm probably gonna reread them a few more times ;)

And I know, right? I was just thinking about that today, wondering whether the HP fandom is still gonna be active in, say, 10-20 years. :D I'm mostly in other fandoms right now but lately, I've been slowly drifting back to HP for some reason. <3

I read the article when my friend sent it to me (family and friends always send me Harry Potter things, because they know I'm obsessed) and it was cute and sarcastic and fun.

I've been looking for a new layout for over a year.I started doing one but I gotten lazy and haven't really gotten the time to do it.

I thought so too! I liked it. :D

Ugh, yeah, I always start editing layouts but then change my mind because I can't tweak something the way I want it to be, and... yeaaahh. It's hard to find one that you like 100%.

yes on the Pottermore. They have one that's live and it's between Ginny talking bout the game and Rita writing bout the vip box.

OH MY GOD, I JUST READ IT AND I'M DYING?!?!?! I love it so so so so much. Albus is a little rebel and stands out from the rest of the family, and he totally has a crush on a male Quidditch player - I don't care that the exact wording is "a great fan of", he clearly has a total thing for him. :3

I was thinking that myself and i love all the new info from it. Like Neville is Albus' Godfather and was it just me or was Charlie totally hitting on Luna's husband? I mean Charlie loves quidditch and yet he was ignoring the game for a conversation?

Apparently I hadn't read the full version, but now I have and ooooh my god, I love it. Neville being Albus' godfather is so cute, and Charlie was totally flirting with Rolf. Aah, I ship it. :))))

I know i was going, Charlie, Rolf is holding his wife's hand! At least wait till she's not looking..... Unless you want Luna to join in which case i approve!

Hahaha, I know, right? And god, the three of them together would be hot too. I'm sure Luna wouldn't mind either way; she seems pretty tolerant. ;)

WHY ISN'T CHARLIE MARRIED YET? Out of all those Weasleys, at least one has to be gay. We've got a winner!

Date: 2014-07-12 03:20 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] thilia.livejournal.com
Heeeeh. Yep, definitely. :)))

I think she's said in interviews that he's not gay; just too focused on dragons to be interested in anything else. So he might be asexual. Or just anti-marriage. Or... well, either way, he's not straight. ;)

Well, well... :-) I rather like it though. I, like not so many others, rather liked the epilogue actually. So this just made me smile. :-) Thank you for posting it.

Me too! I love the epilogue. While I'm not that thrilled about the Harry/Ginny ending, it was predictable, but I'm mostly happy about all the new characters she gave us. ♥

No problem! :)

Oh? You don't like Harry and Ginny as a pairing? To me it made an odd kinda sense when I read the books. (And I read the books first, indeed.)

And from what I understand you have a lot of fun with all them new young characters she showed you in that epilouge, don't you? ;-)

Date: 2014-07-29 08:01 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] thilia.livejournal.com
Nope, I never felt anything between them and I think Luna would've been a muuuch better fit for Harry. As for Ginny, she would've been good with... also Luna, hahaha! No but... yeah. And yeah, I read the books first too, but... never had any feelings for that pairing.

Yasss, exactly. :))

From: [identity profile] kseenaa.livejournal.com
Really? I have to say ever since Ginny had her fangirl crush on Harry I could see them as a pairing. It grew to friendship and then onwards to love. I can definitly see it, although more clear in the books of course even if the actors did a good job in the movies as well. :-) I love Luna, I do. Although I wanted her with Neville! :-D SO MUCH! But alas, that did not happen. :-P

Date: 2014-07-29 08:17 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] thilia.livejournal.com
Yeahhhh, I could see it happen, but I was never really... into it. Maybe it's because I was always more interested in the sexual tension between Harry and Draco ;)) Or because Rowling didn't focus that much on the romances. Never felt anything for Harry/Cho either. Ron/Hermione is cute, Bill/Fleur is also an interesting pairing... Idk, I've never been that interested in canon pairings anyway; the exception being Rodolphus/Bellatrix and Lucius/Narcissa :)))

But yes, I agree with Neville/Luna. That would've been adorable. ♥

Date: 2014-07-30 12:54 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kseenaa.livejournal.com
Not a fandom person by anymeans when it comes to said fandom, but... I can see what you mean with them two. :-) I know Harry/Draco is like the biggest pairing or something? I just don't see it... Apart from angry sex and then back to trying to kill each other, I suppose.

Of all the pairings I think Ron/Hermione is my favorites. And the pairing that never happened in the books or movies, Neville/Luna. :-)

If I'd been involved in the fanomd though, I might have had more favorite pairings than that. :-)
